TACKLING MENTAL HEALTH IS JUST ONE CLICK AWAY

ABOUT US

Welcome to JOCA Hitchin Rugby Club

We have been proud members of JOCA since 2018.

We are committed to supporting all members of Hitchin Rugby Club with their mental health needs.

“They put me on the right path with information into how to deal with stuff, every time I had a JOCA counselling session I have always come out of it positive and always set a new goal for the next meeting.”

“JOCA was a massive help to me. They helped me when I was really low and was in a very bad place, when I needed someone to talk to while the NHS wasn’t a massive help and I needed someone to talk to who wasn’t in the friendship group or my family.”

“JOCA helped me get job interviews and eventually employed again, sorted me transport and has helped me financially. Life is getting better now thank you JOCA. Helen my JOCA Buddy was excellent.”

Comfort After Suicide Loss

Pete's Dragons

The Campaign Against Living Miserably states that suicide is currently the leading cause of death for young men in England and Wales. The World Health Organisation has identified that in the last 45 years suicide rates have increased by 60% worldwide and that suicide is now among the three leading causes of death among men and women aged 15-44.

In real terms, that is roughly 17 deaths by suicide in the UK everyday. Each of those deaths results in 20-60 people being significantly affected. Therefore there are, on average, 340-1,020 people each and every day who become bereaved by suicide. They will experience shock, trauma, distress often coupled with shame, guilt and stigma which can leave them isolated as they struggle to come to terms with their lived experience of losing a loved one in this way.

We provide support in our own unique ways.

Samaritans

Whatever you’re facing, a Samaritan will face it with you.

Every day, Samaritans volunteers respond to around 10,000 calls for help.

We’re here, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.

Samaritans is not only for the moment of crisis, we’re taking action to prevent the crisis.

We give people ways to cope and the skills to be there for others. And we encourage, promote and celebrate those moments of connection between people that can save lives.

We offer listening and support to people and communities in times of need.

In prisons, schools, hospitals and on the rail network, Samaritans are working with people who are going through a difficult time and training others to do the same.

Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide.

That’s why we work tirelessly to reach more people and make suicide prevention a priority.
