Welwyn Garden City’s leading Men’s Hairdressing and Grooming After Image located in Haldens WGC, have donated 100% of their tips through November (Men’s Mental Health Awareness month) to JOCA ‘Just One Click Away’, local mental health charity.
The initiative saw the team collectively raise over £600.00, which they have donated directly to JOCA to help fund vital counselling sessions and mental health support in the local community.
In return staff at After Image will undergo Mental Health Spot The Signs training, learning how to recognize when someone may be struggling and how to offer appropriate support using the JOCA framework. Through the partnership, After Image aims to become a safe and welcoming space where conversations around mental health are encouraged and normalised.
The barbershop will also be pioneering concept of “Just One Cut Away”, reinforcing the message that support can be closer than people realise – sometimes just one conversation, one visit, or one step through the door away.
JOCA Chairman, Justin J Burgess said – “we continue to be overwhelmed by people’s generosity and belief in what JOCA is doing – the money donated by the team at After Image will all go directly towards counselling sessions for individuals who turn to JOCA help and support, making a real and immediate difference to people livers”
One of the lads Nathan, said – “ As Barbers, we speak to people every single day and often hear far more than just what style haircut they want. Mental health effects everyone, and we wanted to do something meaningful rather than just talk about it,.
Partnering with JOCA allows us to give back to our community while also educating ourselves so we can better support anyone who may be struggling. If our shop can be a place where someone feels comfortable opening up, even for a moment, then we are doing something right.
JOCA – Because no one has to TRY alone!
